Costa Klostris
Costa Klostris, the ex President of the Cypriot Brotherhood of Zimbabwe, who served for 14 years, was nominated and unanimously appointed AN HONORARY MEMBER of the Brotherhood at their AGM on Sunday 8th March. He was thanked for all his hard work, commitment and dedication.
We applaud this well deserved honour, congratulations Costa!

Independence Day Laying of the Wreaths & School Students Parade
The laying of the wreaths ceremony, was held after a short Trisagio for the heroes of 1821 by Mitropoliti Seraphim and Father George.
The Ambassador of Greece, Leonidas Contovounesios started the ceremony followed by Nestora Nestoros, Honorary Counsul of Cyprus, the President of the Federation of the Hellenic Communities Mrs Ellou Koumides, The President of the Harare & Districts Hellenic Communities John Koumides, Cypriot Brotherhood of Zimbabwe Vice President Jack Hiripis, President of the Cephalonian Society of Zimbabwe, Panagis Theotokatos, and Despina Zaverdinos President of the Hellenic Ladies Association. Finally, the Head Boy and Head Girl of the Hellenic Academy laid the final wreath.
The students, following the Flag bearers of the Hellenic and Cyprus Flags, then paraded past the above mentioned and the members of the Hellenic Community.

Greek Independence Day celebrated at the Residence of the Greek Ambassador
Leonidas Condovounisios, Greece’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe and his wife Katerina Haroni, held the official Greek Independence Day reception at their residence, in Kingsmead Road, Highlands, on the 25th March, 2015.
Guest of Honour and representative of the Zimbabwe Government was Ambassador Chitsaka Chipaziwa, Director for Europe and the Americas at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Hellenic Primary School students held their 25th March Celebration at the school’s hall.
Invited special guests, grandparents, parents, siblings and friends filled the hall to capacity.
The students, Grade O to upper sixth didn’t disappoint.
Mrs Hilary Middleton, the Primary School’s Headmistress thanked the guests and students for their attendance and performances. Congratulations, warm thank you’s flowers and bottles of wine for the men were presented to the organizers, teachers Lefteris Ntokoutsis, Fotini Koufoghazou, Maria Papayiannis, to the volunteers, Greek dance teacher, Evangelos Kaklamanis, Foxy Tselentis, Nico Malahias the bouzouki player and to the teachers on piano and drums.


In attendance were also Mitropoliti Seraphim, His Worship Councillor Bernard Manyenyeni, Mayor of Harare, the Honourable Mr. Jonathan Samukange, MP, and Senator Peter Haritatos of the Zimbabwe Senate.
Presidents of all the Hellenic societies were in attendance together with many diplomats accompanied by their wives and numerous members of the Hellenic Community.
Ambassador Mr. Chitsaka Chipaziwa, spoke after the Greek Ambassador’s speech and ended with them making toasts and drinking to the wellbeing of each other’s countries.
The Hellenic Academy choir sang the two national anthems, and members of the Hellenic Academy danced a couple of Greek dancers to the delight of their audience.
Panos, Elena, Stelio and Olga, musicians and singers from Greece, provided the Greek music which gave the finishing Greek touch to a beautiful sunny afternoon in Harare.
