Hellenic Academy

Established in 2008 Hellenic Academy was the culmination of years of hard work and preparation. It had long been a dream of generations of the Greek Community that the excellent standard of education offered by our sister school Hellenic Primary School, be continued up to and including A Level.

By the time the ground was broken in this project it was 2007 and Zimbabwe was in the throes of massive hyperinflation. Everyone involved in the project had made a huge leap of faith, driven by the desire to see their dreams become reality.

Fast forward to 2015 and Hellenic Academy is a well established and highly regarded co-ed senior school, set on a campus in Alexandra Park in the Northern Suburbs of Harare. Each Form Year comprises three classes and the school currently has almost 550 students equally divided between boys and girls. The school reflects the diversity of Zimbabwe and has students from all racial backgrounds.

We offer Cambridge syllabus education from Forms One through to Upper Six along with City and Guilds commercial subjects. We have a wide range of cultural and sporting activities and encourage all students to take part in a community service project.

    • Applications for places in Form Two are accepted throughout the year.

    • Applications for places in Form Three should be made during the Form Two year.Subject choices for IGCSE are made at the end of Form Two, so it is not desirable to take in pupils in Form Three as the structure of their subject choices may be very different. If the structure of choices is the same as the Academy’s, and there is a place available, these applications will be considered.

    • The Academy does not normally take pupils into Form Four.

    • Towards the end of January when IGCSE and ZIMSEC O Level results are published, the Academy accepts applications from outside pupils wishing to be considered for the limited number of new places that the Academy may have for Lower Sixth.Admission is granted to those who meet the stringent requirements once the Academy’s own pupils have made their choices.

  • Should applications not be submitted on time and the Grade/Class/Form has already reached its maximum size, you are entitled to join a waiting list.Schools send out letters every year asking whether you wish your application to remain on file.Should you not respond, your applications are taken off the list.Just to be safe, please check with the relevant school in January each year.
